Who We Are In Christ!
Yesterday we meditated on the word that we are a new creation “In Christ”.
Knowing “Who We Are” as believers is therefore of paramount importance as to how we live, and move, and have our being as declared in “Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”
This morning let’s look at a few scriptures testifying to who we are in Christ, that is that we are called “sons of God” :-
“1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.”
And in verse 2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God“.
And in Romans 8: “14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God...”
Wow, can you now see what the scriptures say who we are? And we have to believe to receive our inheritance as “sons”. Amen!
But you may say how do we know that we are truly the children of God? Read on in verse 16 below:-
“16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the “children of God:”
Oh yes the Holy Spirit that lives in you will bear witness with your spirit! That is why as a “new creation” we always have this …oomp...in us, the confidence that we are different! Amen.
Now read verse 17 to see what we have and what we possess as sons!
“17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and “joint-heirs” with Christ..”
He deserves a shout of our Praise to declare us not only as His children but yes we are called to be “joint-heirs” with Jesus Christ, His Son. Can you say a loud loud Amen and say to yourself “I believe it and I receive it”.
Oh that is not all, do you know what is meant by being “joint-heirs” with Jesus, His Son ? This word is a legal term meaning that when one party dies, the surviving party will inherit all His properties and assets, not just a share or part of it. Yes His Inheritance for us!
This is exactly what we inherit when our Lord Jesus died on Calvary and left us His will (testament) sealed not in red ink in legal document but with His Precious Blood! And He rose and live to see to it that the Will is executed to us. That is the reason for the scripture written to say “He became poor to make us rich”.
And so we can say in confidence that we lack in no good things!
