Thoughts Of Peace!
God’s people, only a small remnant was sent into captivity under King Nebuchadrezzar for 70 years because of one thing: Their repeated rebellion and disobedience.
And in the midst of this sad event, God raised up a Prophet called Jeremiah (popularly known as the “Weeping Prophet“) who often cried and wept before the Lord, fearing that one day of the possibility they would all be wiped out totally by their enemies! And that was the time God spoke to His people through Jeremiah these comforting words:
10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
His comforting words came “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”
And you will notice that these comforting words and promises are conditional! God told them and us as well that if we Seek Him with all our hearts, all will find Him and He will help to deliver us from all our problems! Amen.
Now read Isaiah 43:4 and see His expression of how He thinks of you and me!
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.”
Wow, we are precious in His sight! What more can we say of a God who loved us enough to send His only begotten Son to die for sinners!
To some believers one time or another, one reason or another, they could have lost sight of His love and may turn away from Him! But how could this be, if we consider his kind and loving words in Jeremiah 29:11 and Isaiah 43:4?
So dear Beloved, make no mistake that God truly loves and cares for us. God has done His part and all that it takes is for us to do our part to reciprocate His love for us. Are you convinced and would you this day receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
This is the truth that in his words “We are precious” yes very precious to Him!
So let’s remind ourselves of His words and be comforted today:-
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
