Soaring Like An Eagle

 Soaring Like An Eagle!

This morning I would like to share how to be led by the Spirit, to take a lesson from the “The Way Of An Eagle”. There is much lesson to learn how eagles fly: Soaring like an eagle!

Isaiah 40:31 uses the words “…But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”. Certainly the scripture is demonstrating to us not to use our strength and sweat unnecessarily. By remaining still and just waiting upon the Lord will allow us to stay strong and at the same time allowing the Lord to renew our strength.

That’s how eagles renew their strength by just soaring instead of using their strength and energy to flap their wings using much energy! They have learned to “Wait” for the right moment to fly. Most believers are impatient and often get discouraged because they simply have not learned to stay still and wait upon the Lord patiently.

Here’s one study on how eagles fly (soar) :-

How do eagles find thermal columns to soar on?

Eagles reduce the energy necessary for flight by bringing their relatively large wings (per body weight) over thermal columns of rising air.
Thermal is warm air that will rise. When present, Eagles will start to fly, and they will glide above the warm air, higher and higher, as they allow the air to lift them higher!

Isaiah 40 clearly reveals one very important spiritual truth. It tells us that even the youth will often be tired and weak. That’s right, using unnecessary strength and energy to do things can tire even a strong young man!

“Isaiah 40:
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:”

We will not understand verses 29 and 30 if we do not know the way of an eagle – how they soar in the air.

Now let’s read verse 31 and see what it says:-

“31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.

So it certainly pays to learn the principle how eagles fly! Waiting upon the Lord is just like an eagle waiting patiently for the right moment to fly and soar high and yet conserving their strength and energy to be used later when they can hunt for their food (animals like foxes and snakes).

In Ephesians 1, we are told that we are seated in the heavenly places, even though our physical body is here on earth! This is again a spiritual truth, that if we walk after the Spirit, this will give us life (ZOE) which include strength. Let’s read:-

“Romans 8:
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you”.

Yes to soar is to walk and be led by the Spirit 24/7!  “Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.  In summary, let’s remember some keys of this spiritual truth:-

  • Do not sweat
  • Wait upon the Lord.
  • Be patient, wait for the thermal air to rise
  • Then soar like an eagle

They that wait upon the Lord will soar up high above every evil work that may be assigned against us!

Be blessed
