Power of the Word of God & Prayer
I recently shared one Greek word KRATOS which stands for power of dominion. Another power word is:-
EXOUSIA which stands for power of delegated authority. Another is DUNAMIS which is that explosive power that destroys every yoke of bondage. The next word is ISCHYS which is gained through ceaseless prayer.
The sum total of such powers, all combined is Resurrection Power that raised our Lord Jesus from the dead, Amen? Paul said in Philippians 3:10
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death”
There are many verses in the New Testament which Paul taught using these GREEK words to express them in their entirety, their full meaning. Here is one verse:-
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power (Dynamis) to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty (Ischus) power (Kratos),
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power (Exousia), and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”
Power of the Word and Prayer
Such is the power Paul possessed! Let’s look at some of Paul’s exploits:-
Here Paul was preaching, then a man fell asleep and fell from the top floor and died. He prayed and the dead man was raised to life! Such was the power of his prayer!
Here a viper bit Paul. He should die because viper is very deadly. But Paul just shook it off and the islander Chief was amazed and thought Paul was God. Such Power?
So what do we learn! We are taught to study diligently and meditate on the word day and night, to grow and grow in His Word!
“1 Peter 2:2 … desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”
We need to continue to study the word:-
2 Timothy 2:15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”
Ceaseless Prayer – Paul prayed ceaselessly and we need to do so too:-
1 Thessalonians 5:17 … “Pray without ceasing“
1 Corinthians 14:15
“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also”
Power to raise the dead
2 Kings 13:21
Here it says Elijah’s bones were able to raise the dead. So if we continue in prayer ceaselessly and press on to meditate on the word, we should see increasing measure of power in our prayer. Then there will be good result when you in our ministry.
In bodily exercise, we all started with small weight, then more and more weight as our muscles get stronger and stronger. And so is spiritual exercise, if we remain consistent and faithful in our prayers and study of the word.
I will continue with more discussion on this in Part 2.
