Intimacy With God

Intimacy With God!

Good Morning

Today I want to share on the topic “Intimacy with God“.

Over the weekend I have been reminded repeatedly of the these (3) words “Intimacy With God” as if the Holy Spirit was reminding me to draw even closer to Him. You see, it is my regular practice to spend time praying more and more in His presence. I always enjoy the quiet evening fellowship with the Holy Spirit, after a day’s work. At the Resurrection Sunday Service this morning, the Holy Spirit again reminded me to look into this topic. I have therefore been meditating on these three (3) words “Intimacy With God

How many of you really want to know the Holy Spirit intimately? Then this article will get you started in your pursuit of wanting to know God more, to have  “Intimacy with God“. If you want to grow, you need to have more intimacy with the Holy Spirit, spending more time to get more acquainted with His ways of leading and guiding you. And yes there is no better place to begin then to meditate on  Romans 8. If you consider the scripture in this chapter, we see why it is so important to know Him for it is He that will lead and guide us into the truth of God’s word. It is He that will teach us to abide in Christ and not follow after the flesh so that we can find the life of God. We read in Romans 8:26-27 how the Holy Spirit will help our weaknesses, lead and show us how to pray according to the will of God. In my experience, using scriptures accurately in our prayers are very important. Many believers prayed without getting answers to their prayers because they prayed amiss. Our Lord Himself had shown us an example how to pray with scriptures (Matthew 4:4) in order to overcome the tempter.

Romans 8:

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

In the above scripture text, we learn 3 things:

1. The Holy Spirit will help our weaknesses

2. He will intercede on our behalf as we pray along with Him

3. He will pray the promises of God’s word according to our needs

Once I heard a Christian Singer sang a beautiful hymn. The lyrics are beautiful. Here’s the chorus part:-

Give me one magnificent obsession.

Jesus, give me one glorious ambition for my life:

To know and follow hard after You

I really enjoyed listening to the hymn which has a nice melody to it. The way it was sang, I believe she is a worshipper and must have a very close relationship with God. This truly is a “pure and holy passion” every believer must work towards it. To know God, we must seek him earnestly if we really want to have “Intimacy with God” in order to know Him more and more.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10 these words: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection…”

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM” is the trumpet call to us. Paul truly left no stone unturned to seek after God. So yes it is scriptural that God is seeking after His children to seek him with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength and with all their mind. Today I want to encourage you to seek God, the Father, God His Son and God the Holy Spirit. Seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul and with all strength and with all your mind. Yes He wants all of us  and when you we that, slowly but surely He will draw closer and closer to us. It is always an awesome experience to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, that’s the mark of a true worshipper, isn’t it?

Therefore, let’s this be our pursuit and not otherwise. Romans 8 says it this way: that the “Law of the Spirit of Life” will make us free from the law of sin and death. Yes if we seek after Him, we will live. That’s how to have “Intimacy with God“.

Seeking after God is an all life pursuit for a believer and this morning let’s meditate in depth this scripture in Genesis 5:24 to see what really happenned to a true worshipper of God:

And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”

Amen, this is one pure and holy passion we should have! Read also the posting on “Secret Place” at this link
