I mentioned early this week the Lord reminded me to share a very powerful principle given in the story of Jacob and Laban, his uncle. As you know, Laban cheated and took everything from Jacob but in the end, this man’s wealth, by a divine act, was transferred to Jacob through a principle God taught him.
The principle is “You Get What You See.” This concerns the images we see in the eye of our mind. If you see lack, it is a matter of time that lack will creep into your life. If you see failure, you begin to attract failure. And if you see yourself sick, you open the door to sickness.
This is the first principle of the power of seeing taught in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 3 in the story of Eve being deceived by satan.
In the story of Jacob and Laban in Genesis, we have been told that Laban cheated Jacob of the wages due to him for his efforts in tending to the flocks for his uncle, but in the end, God revealed to Jacob how to recover his losses from Laban.
The principle is “You Get What You See”.
We can see this truth in several events in the old testament. Let’s look at some of the events:-
Genesis 3 – Eve deceived by satan!
In this story, we were told that satan tempted Eve by telling her that if she ate of the fruit of the tree, her “eyes” would be opened and she would be “wise” like God. Eve entertained the lies told to her and she began to “see” in her imagination.
In 3:6, it says:
“And when the woman “saw” that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the “eyes”, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat…”
Here the devil send “images” into her mind (imagination) of Eve’s thought. After the “seeing” part, the desire part started to get stronger and stronger until conception took place. And eventually she took of the fruit.
The next story is in Numbers-Seeing Images
The story of the 12 Spies – Here Moses asked them to go into Canaan Land, the promised land of milk and honey, to see if the promises were true. The 12 spies went and returned with different images in their imagination. Ten (10) of them saw tall Giants and High Fortified Cities which would make it impossible for them to take the land. We were told that in Numbers 13:32-33 as follows:-
“13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we “saw“ in it are men of a great stature.”
Here they “SAW” in their mind. Now see how the images formed in their minds began to grow to cause fear in them.
“13:33 And there we “saw” the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own “sight” as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”
Do you notice it? They first saw with their eyes the “Giants”, became frightened and then they formed “images” in their minds, these images caused fear and then they saw themselves as little worthless “grasshoppers”? They then forgot the promises of God to give them the land!
Now there is a Hebrew word used for “Imagination“. It is called YETSER
Here are 2 scriptures that used the word “YETSER”.
“I Chronicles 29:18
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee”
Here YETSER is used in the context of the word “imagination”.
In the scripture in Isaiah, it is translated as “mind”.
Here Prophet Isaiah was praying for God’s perfect peace to be formed.
“Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose “mind” is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
So when we pray for peace, we need to see images of peace in the imagination of our thought. Then if we see it, we will have it.
Do you need healing? Then start seeing them in your mind and in the imagination of your mind, that you have a healthy and strong body. Get some of your best healthy pictures and put them where you constantly see them. You will be surprised how fast you get healed!
If you have lack, see yourself wealthy and prosperous, see abundant flowing in towards you, get scriptures to support your images and confess them to build faith and start seeing results. If you see it you will possess it. Combine them with the power of confession and you should see changes taking place. Amen!
In the next posting, I will discuss the same Hebrew word in Greek (DIANOIA) in the New Testament and share the principle taught in the story of Jacob and Laban.
