Testimony-Sharing the Gospel

SHARING THE GOSPEL

Good Morning

Matthew 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

In the scripture above, Matthew, a disciple of Jesus, taught that the Gospel must be shared in all the world.

I remember I began sharing the gospel immediately I became a believer more than 30 years ago. I was never limited in sharing the good news with people I know, first my family, relatives, friends and colleagues. And I shared them even during lunch break, everywhere, in season and out of season.

I remember I regularly prayed for friends to receive Jesus even while having our meals, really quite an adventure doing the work of the Kingdom!

Now let me share one such exploit of an event some 4 years ago, about my sharing the gospel. In my work place I had a new colleague, seated next to me. He was a 70 + elderly man who needed a job as he still has his wife and a nephew to support.

Inevitably I because his friend very quickly and yes I wasted no time in sharing the gospel with him. But in the beginning, it appeared an impossible task! Why, you ask me?

You see, he told me that he was not a believer and “could never be a Christian” because he gave the story that he was the only son left in the family with the sole task of carrying on the legacy of praying to his family ancestors. So his was a really tough case to share the gospel.

But I was patient. I have tasted the thrill of sharing the gospel with anyone I encounter (should an opportunity arises) and I knew the Word of God would always prevail, the Gospel, the power of God! So after giving him a Bible, I started my evangelism and praise God, very quickly he surrendered to Jesus and was saved!

We then invited him to the Christian Fellowship Meetings we have each week during the lunch break in the market place as well as the morning prayer meetings we have each morning before we start work in the work place. And yes, very soon he also received the Holy Spirit and started to pray in tongues. What a joy to see him receiving Jesus in the dawn of his life.

I remember the day I started the evangelism. I had made an appointment to take him to a Church. He was staying in Bukit Batok and to make it more convenient, I agreed to pick him up and bring him to Church. I went with my wife to pick him up at the appointed time at 6.00 pm. But on that day we some how lost our way and ended up in an unknown dirt road in a secluded track in Woodlands! Some more, it was then raining heavily (the rain just suddenly started and very heavy) with lightling and thunder and therefore we really had a difficult time to find our way. It was as if his god was putting up an objection.

But thanks be to God, we finally make it to Church at around 8 pm. Imagine a 2 hours journey which would normally take a 20 minute journey to go there.

Eventually I found an AOG Church for him to attend with his wife. The Church was near his home.

So you see, witnessing is really like a package, a complete package from start to end, seeing to it, where possible, to get a new convert to grow in the Lord through services, Bible lessons and regularly fellowship!

“He said he was the only one left in his family to continue their ancestor worship but in the end JESUS is better and greater for him!.

All praise and glory be to God!

After about 6 months working with us he left because of his health and age.

Yes it was a divine appointment when he came to work with us 4 years ago! God knew, isn’t it? Then he left us with the gospel.

So brethren, do not stop witnessing, it is a command that we need to share the gospel wherever and whenever there is an opportunity!

Amen
Be blessed

Testimony – I Prayed For A Catholic Nun

I Prayed For A Catholic Nun

Testimony – This is another of my many testimonies, praying for the sick and winning souls for Jesus. I always enjoy witnessing.  I have never lost the passion.

I was with a friend to pray for a sick patient at a hospital.  Just before the prayer, we both felt impressed to sing an old hymn to the elderly man to minister to him.

We sang “Jesus Loves Me”.  He enjoyed the hymn and then we prayed for his healing and salvation!

Unknown to us, another patient, a few beds away, was listening attentively to the song.  This patient then started to wave for me to go over. When I was by her bedside I greeted  “Hi Ma’am, would you like me to pray for you too?  She said “Oh that was a nice hymn, I liked it”.

In the ensuing conversation I found out that she was a Nun taking charge of a Convent in nearby Indonesia. She called herself Mother Superior …

I shared with her that we just prayed for the elderly patient to receive Jesus! “Oh that’s wonderful” she replied. Then I quickly asked, “do you also want me to pray for you to be born again!  She did not seem to understand and then she asked me what “born again” meant.

Yes it seemed she knew the Bible and Jesus, but she was clearly not saved?  You see to be born again is to pray to invite Jesus into our heart.  There are others who thought entering heaven is simply to do lots of good deeds and works!  But that’s not what the Bible teaches, salvation if a free gift!

And so I explained the importance of understanding the meaning of the statement “to be born again” according to the teaching by the Lord Himself.  I took out my Bible and read John 3:1-12:

“1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? “

Then I went on to explain to her that to receive salvation is a free gift of God as opposed to many other  unscriptural teachings of salvation by doing deeds and good works!  I then boldly asked if she would allow me to pray for her to receive Jesus and be born in the spirit.  She asked me how to do that and I turned to Ephesians 2 and read verse 8-9:

“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the “gift of God“: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

And another scripture in Romans 10:8-10:

“8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt “confess with thy mouth” the Lord Jesus, and shalt “believe in thine heart” that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”

Now Is The Time!

And so we prayed together and I could see the peace and joy in her face as I bidded goodbye to her! She has been born into the Kingdom of God! To God Be All The Glory, heaven’s population is increasing!

Amen
Be blessed

Deliverance from Cigarette Addiction

Deliverance From Cigarette Addiction

This is a testimony I have never stopped sharing!

Before I became a believer, I regularly smoke close to 40 sticks of cigarette or 2 pack a day. It was even much more if I went out drinking with friends after work. That was more than 28 years ago.

I had become a believer then, about 3 to 4 months’ old as a Christian. But I was embarrassed to be still smoking. And then by the mercy and grace of God, a miracle happened one evening.  I had returned home from work and was resting on my sofa reading a book by “Mel Tari” an Indonesian Evangelist, and was reading that chapter about drinking and smoking, when suddenly I leapt up from my chair! I had just heard the Holy Spirit spoke clear and loud “Pray now for the cigarette addition to leave”. Continue reading

Immediately I obeyed and went into action!  It was so convicting that all I knew was to immediately act on it. I took my new pack of cigarettes (20 sticks) and tore it open. I asked my son to join me to peel each cigarette to loosen the tobacco leaves and threw it on the floor. Then we stood up and started jumping over the tobacco and declared “satan you are crushed under our feet.  While doing that, we could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.  My son was shaking and he said “Dad, God is here”. Immediately, in a moment, suddenly I felt something just left me. I could feel it and I knew I had been set free, that tobacco spirit had left under the power of God.  Yes, He is an Awesome God and His Power is Greater than any other, Amen!

Free from Cigarette Addiction!

Next morning, as was my usual habit, on my way to work I would visit the Indian provision shop just opposite my home to buy my daily quota of 2 pack of cigarette. You see, I worked on the 26th floor and it would be inconvenient to run out of cigarette. On yes, my boss too smoked the same brand and regularly he would come to take some from me. He too was a heavy smoker.
But that morning I just simply forget about the cigarette. I did not have any urge or desire to smoke and so I left happily for work without the cigarette. There was no need for the cigarette, God has delivered me!

When I reached the office, within minutes my boss came to me to ask for a few cigarettes and was shocked when I said I had none. He asked “What do you mean you had none?” So I explained.  I said Mr Kay, I prayed last night and Jesus had set me free.  I no longer smoke, that’s why I did not buy any!” Then he looked at me with much surprise and asked again, “What do you mean Jesus had set you free?” He added “Chris, all that is rubbish, only “Will Power” can set you free and he walked away to buy his own cigarette.” Since that day, I never had the urge to smoke another cigarette.  I have been delivered and since then I never smoked another stick of cigarette!  I am forever grateful to God. Amen.

A few years ago, I met him during a lunch break. He had retired but was still working part-time. He shared with me that he had given up smoking following a major operation.  He said he was asked to give up smoking by the doctor who treated him. I suppose he knew then that it was not “Will Power” but the “Power  of God” that I had been set free!

Recently, he attended one of the annual market place meetings we organised.  After the meeting, he asked for a Bible to read.  In our market place ministry, we give out about 100 Bibles free of charge every 3 to 4 months.

To God Be All The Glory!
Amen
Be Blessed

Testimony – Witnessing

A Testimony on Witnessing!

Good Morning

Have you been still and listened to the “Still Small Voice” in your devotion last night? In reaching out to others, it is so important to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit in order to have success!  Spending quality time praying in tongues will help to strengthen our inner man.

“1 King 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
If yes, we need to quickly obey that direction of The Lord & then you will see the Hands of The Lord moving mightily before you!“

One time the Lord awoke me from my sleep at about 3 in the morning and flashed in my mind a scripture in Haggai 2:4, a scripture I did not know of. You see I had just become a believer for about 6 months and I had then yet to read through the Bible, especially the Old Testament. The verse seemed strange to me and reads like this:- Continue reading

“Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts”

When I read it, I did not what it meant and so I went to sleep. The next day I was in the office, a colleague came to see me at about 10 in the morning to bid me farewell because that day was her last day. I was surprised as I had not heard that she was leaving! Then I was told that it was a 24 hours’ notice she received for something she did wrong. Then immediately I knew that scripture was for her and these were the words that were speaking to me for her:-

“…be strong, saith the Lord; and be strong,… and be strong, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord”

So I ministered to her with that verse asking her not to be sad but to be very strong and look for another job and continue to work!

Witnessing on the Telephone

Another time I was calling an angry customer an Australian who had a complaint against one of the staff working under me. I was then a manager in an insurance company. Whilst listening to his complaint, I suddenly heard a voice softly said to me “ask him if he is now alright and anything troubling him! I thought to myself, what if he becomes even more angry? But the words kept bubbling in me and I could not help but to obey and with a deep breath I asked him, “Sir may I ask if you are now alright, is something troubling you? Wow immediately I uttered those words, he immediately broke down and he told me that he was not feeling good, but very lonely and depressed. He said he lived all alone in a rented apartment. So I asked to pray for him for God to release peace to him. Yes I boldly proclaimed I was a Christian and would want to pray for him if he would not mind. As I prayed, I could hear he was quietly sobbing. When I finished, he said he felt so much better.

Then again the Lord spoke to me “Pray for him to be a believer!”  Just imagine I was only a 6 months old believer and hardly knew much of the Bible. But I was compelled to go ahead. The Holy Spirit was all over me and I really had to do it. Yes in His Strength and Boldness!

I said Sir “Would you like me to pray again for you to have Jesus and His Peace shall be with you and he answered “Okay”.
So I asked him to knee down and repeat the sinner’s prayer.  At that time, I thought to pray, we have to knee down! He repeated the prayer and I believe he was saved. Later in the evening, I made a trip to visit him and handed some tapes and books to grow in the Lord!

To God Be All The Glory, a soul was won to Jesus and on the “telephone!” I still could not believe how it could happen. That was the beginning of many of my exploits in the Lord!

Amen
Be blessed & obey His voice
